  • Rev. Sandra McLauchlan-Abuja

    MINISTER

    Rev. Sandra believes the role of the church is to nurture the body, mind, and soul of the community. She loves connecting faith to real-life experiences through worship and everyday encounters. Rev. Sandra appreciates the collaborative nature of the leadership team at Westminster. Prior to Westminster, Rev. Sandra served the church on Manitoulin Island and at Mayfield United in Caledon. She has a rich background in inner-city work and pastoral care.

    Bob, Rev. Sandra, and their two adult daughters are active members of the Orangeville community.

  • Nancy Dettbarn

    MINISTER OF MUSIC

    From a family of church musicians, Nancy has been providing music for worship services since age 13. She is classically trained with a Master of Music degree in Performance, yet she is equally fluent in contemporary styles and enjoys bringing creativity to each service. Nancy facilitates guest artists and directs the Celebration Choir, and teaches classes at the University of Toronto as well as private instruction in piano and organ.

  • Christy Doner

    RECEPTIONIST

    Christy has been an active member of Westminster United Church for the past 28 years and is thrilled to be able to help serve the church community in her retirement. She has worked for 37 years in the human services field with children and their families. She adores children and feels lucky to be able to call herself mom and grandma to two beautiful little girls. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren, playing cards and walking in the community.

  • Margo Tasker

    FACILITIES MANAGER

    Margo has lived in Orangeville for more than 20 years and raised her family in the community. She earned her bachelor's degree at York University and has a diverse professional career in education and copywriting both here in Canada and abroad. Margo turned a life passion for baking into a career and worked as a chef as well. This winding road has led serendipitously to her role here at Westminster where she can draw upon all of her experiences to best serve both the church and larger communities.

    Fun fact: Margo had a lovely dance with billiards legend Minnesota Fats many years ago in Nashville, Tennessee.

  • David Bernier

    CUSTODIAN

    Dave, his wife Janet and three children have lived in Orangeville for over seventeen years.

    Dave brings considerable experience and skills to his position of Church Caretaker at Westminster Orangeville. He is a problem solver and people person. Over the years Dave has participated in many community functions at Westminster and has helped many people.

    In his spare time, he plays various sports with his two growing teenage sons. Dave is very involved in Orangeville’s teenage basketball leagues.

  • Rev. Maureen MacLeod-Oliver

    VOLUNTEER ASSOCIATE MINISTER

    Rev. Maureen has had a varied career.

    She first started in physiotherapy at hospitals and home care in Etobicoke. Then she started her pastoral journey at Queen’s for Theology and Ministry at Parry Sound. Rev. Maureen has spent time in Brampton, Dorothy Ley Hospice, and presently at Westminster.

    “Where am I? I’m always the shortest adult!”

  • Rev. Bruce Gregersen

    VOLUNTEER ASSOCIATE MINISTER

    Following retirement from a leadership position in the national United Church, Rev. Bruce is delighted to be part of the team at Westminster as a Voluntary Associate Minister. Although he and his partner Cheryl and daughter Olivia live on an acreage with bees, an orchard, gardens, chickens, and a very large but friendly dog, Orangeville is their go-to community. For them, Westminster reflects the best of Orangeville where connections and friendships can be deepened and God’s love lived. Rev. Bruce is also hoping for a few games of golf every now and then.

  • Wendy May

    LICENSED LAY WORSHIP LEADER (LLWL)

    Wendy is a retired registered nurse whose specialty was palliative care. She graduated in 2018 with her LLWL training at Five Oaks. Wendy is currently completing a 4-year diploma course in theology from The Atlantic School of Theology in Nova Scotia. She loves dogs and cats, reading, and doing paint-by-number paintings.

  • Robert J. (Bob) Borden

    BOARD CHAIR

    Bob, wife Joan and family, moved to Orangeville in 1974 and began worshiping at Westminster that November. Bob is a retired elementary Principal and retired Chair of the Upper Grand District School Board.

    During his almost fifty years at WUC, Bob has sung in the Senior/Celebration Choir and chaired the Worship & Sacraments and Ministry & Personnel Committees. This year, he returns to the role of Chair of the Board for a second time.

    When not at WUC, Bob loves travelling and spending time with his 6 grandkids (4 in the US and 2 in the UK). He is currently involved in the development of Dufferin Caledon’s emerging Hills of Headwaters Ontario Health Team. He is also a life member of the Optimist Club of Orangeville.

  • Chuck Heron

    TREASURER

    In Chuck's primary role of Treasurer, he oversees the Operating Fund and six others for the variety of work we do. He is also the Assistant Technician for the weekly live-streamed worship services and a member of the Celebration Choir and Bells of Westminster. That mix leads to many good friendships. Chuck continues to enjoy his 34-year membership in the 4th Orangeville Scout Group, seeing youth grow with fun adventures.

  • Joshua Lonuzzo

    PRODUCER AND CINEMATOGRAPHER

    Joshua has worked with Westminster since 2016 running AV operations. He now produces visual content for live streams and other productions and is the AV technician for most events at the church. With a passion for cinematography, production, and design he now freelances with his twin brother, Gabriel, under Horizons Co. Outside of work, Joshua is an undergraduate student at the University of Guelph studying Ecology.

  • Dan Palmieri

    LIVESTREAM ASSISTANT PRODUCER

    Dan is a local lighting and sound technician with a background in technical production. He is also the Assistant Technical Director at Theatre Orangeville. Dan assists in mixing the choir and running the live service on Sundays.

    If not working, you can usually find Dan working on electronics or playing games online.

  • Gabriel Lonuzzo

    LIVESTREAM AERIAL CINEMATOGRAPHER

    Gabriel has volunteered with Westminster since 2016 in various capacities and continues to assist with the youth group. Now a licenced UAV operator, he provides stunning aerial cinematography for services every week and other productions. Gabriel is currently an undergraduate studying Engineering Physics at McMaster University and does freelance photography and production with his brother under Horizons Co.
